SNSD MV Director Apologizes For Plagiarizing Disney Logo

The director of the SNSD MV has issued an apology.

Recently, SNSD made a comeback to celebrate its 15th anniversary.

In the visuals of the comeback, we find in particular a logo for the 15th anniversary of the group.

In recent days, criticism has begun to rain, as the logo in question was suspected to have been plagiarized from a logo of Tokyo Disneyland, also created for the 15th anniversary of the park.

Today, the director of the MV then admitted to having copied the logo and issued an apology.

He wrote on Instagram:

“Hello. I’m Shin Hee Won, the director of Girls’ Generation’s “Forever1” music video.

First of all, we apologize for the controversy over the set design of some of Girls’ Generation’s “Forever1″ music videos, which has put a strain on Girls’ Generation members and SM Entertainment.

When I was commissioned for this music video and was involved in planning and directing, I am ashamed and apologize for borrowing the design without permission.

I researched a number-related logo design for the 15th anniversary set, found several references, found an image that matched well, and borrowed it for the set design without checking the source.

Today we confirmed that the design is a logo commemorating the 15th anniversary of DisneySea Japan, and we sincerely apologize for designing the set without further investigation and confirmation.

We will investigate and check more thoroughly from different angles before production to make sure something like this never happens again.

Finally, we would like to once again apologize to the members of SNSD, SM Entertainment and the fans who enjoyed the music video for causing trouble due to our mistakes.”
