The Ministry of Defense cancels its survey on BTS’s military service

South Korea’s Ministry of Defense reversed its previous decision.

Recently, it was announced that the Ministry of Defense wanted to conduct a public survey to find out the opinion of the South Korean people on a possible military exemption from the boygroup.

On September 1, however, it was announced that the poll would not take place.

Indeed, the government had been under the fire of criticism after the announcement of the poll, the South Koreans accusing the Ministry of Defense of discharging its responsibilities by carrying it out.

The survey was therefore cancelled.

On September 1, the Ministry declared:

“The Ministry has decided not to conduct a survey on the subject of BTS’s possible military exemption.

Currently, the media is talking about the subject as if this poll will directly affect the Ministry’s decision whether or not to exempt BTS members from military service.

The Ministry would like to make it clear that such a serious subject will not be determined solely by the results of a public opinion poll.”
