While K-Pop award shows are usually a time of celebration, there have been several heartbreaking cases where idols have been seriously injured during them. Here is a list of some of those moments.
1. Red Velvet Wendy’s stage accident at SBS Gayo Daejeon trials
In 2019, Wendy suffered a broken pelvis, wrist and facial injuries after falling off a stage during rehearsals for SBSit is Gayo Daejeon. This accident happened when Wendy was doing sound rehearsals and walking up the stairs to the second floor tunnel as shown in the script.
As Wendy prepared to descend, the elevator failed to arrive in time, causing her to lose her balance and fall down the stairs.
A staff member at the show explained that the stairs weren’t properly prepared for rehearsals and that Wendy wouldn’t have been hurt if the area had been better prepared.
The second floor tunnel was dark and narrow. The elevator stairs were not ready either. Wendy from Red Velvet rehearsed in this environment. If they had at least put tape on the specified areas, it wouldn’t have fallen off.

SBS ended up apologizing to Wendy after the incident.
2. Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon falls during the Seoul Music Prize
During Seoul Music Prize 2014one of the stage lifts collapsed during Girls Generation-TTSPerformance . This ended up causing Taeyeon to fall into the basement and she was rushed to the hospital.
Fortunately, Taeyeon was not seriously injured.
3. BTS’s Jungkook injuring his leg during the MOM 2016
During MOM 2016, Jungkook did a stunt where he was seen hanging from the ceiling with wires. Jungkook ended up hanging from the wires for almost an entire minute!
Although it fascinates fans, Jungkook ended up injuring his leg due to this stunt. After the awards show ended, Jungkook was unable to walk on his own.
4. GFRIEND’s Sowon injured his ankle at the 31 gold records
In the 31st gold record award, Sowon injured her ankle after slipping during GFRIEND’s performance of “Navillera”. Despite this, Sowon continued to perform.

5. Dal Shabet Subin injured during the Bugok Summer Festival in Hawaii
Although it didn’t happen at an awards ceremony, Subin ended up seriously injured during the Bugok Summer Festival in Hawaii in 2011. During the performance, Subin fell and hit his face on one of the metal pyrotechnic vents. Following this, Subin was rushed to hospital, where she had to receive 16 stitches to her lips and face.
