Decision On BTS’s Possible Military Exemption Will Be Made By December

The possible military exemption of BTS is still talking at the end of the year.

Recently, it had been announced that the Ministry of Defense wanted to conduct a public survey to find out the opinion of the South Korean population on a possible military exemption from the boygroup.

A few days later, the poll was finally canceled following the many criticisms surrounding this decision.

On October 5, the subject of BTS’s military service came up again, as Jin must enlist before the end of the year if the group does not obtain an exemption.

Park Bo Kyun from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said a decision would be made on the matter by December.

During the parliamentary inspection of the National Assembly, the Minister declared: “Jin’s enlistment must be decided by December, so we will finalize our position as soon as possible before that.”

Park Bo Kyun added: “We seriously analyze the problem by looking at it from different aspects including the points of Defense which are a sacred duty, but also that military service is a symbol of equality and justice.”

He then continued: “BTS has made Korea known as the standard-bearer of K-culture and created immense economic benefits.”

“There is a concern for fairness between popular artists like BTS and those who practice arts, it will affect the group when one of the members enlists in the army, there are results of the analysis of public opinion and the opinion of men in their twenties, etc”he continued.

Indeed, Jin should normally enlist this year at the latest since he was born in 1992.

We should therefore finally finish with the question of the possible military exemption of BTS with a decision which will fall on this subject by December.

On the musical side, two solos by BTS members are planned before the end of the year.
