7 K-Pop Scandals That ‘Polluted’ A Group’s Comeback

Some of the worst scandals to hit K-Pop are those that delay a comeback or somehow “taint” it. With fans leaving the fandom or some feeling disappointed, the group’s comeback may not have been the strongest. Whether the scandal was legitimate or not, it still stung those involved.

1. T-ARA – “Day by Day”

Starting the list with one of the biggest K-Pop scandals, TAREThe return of ‘Day by Day’ got bad press after the member Hwa Young claimed that she had been bullied by the other members.

This would be Hwayoung’s last comeback with the group, and the T-ARA members later claimed they were innocent despite the negative press.

2. Super Junior – “Black Suit”

Super JuniorThe November 2017 comeback “Black Suit” had a member siwon sit outside promotions.

Just a month before the release of “Black Suit”, Siwon’s family’s French bulldog, Bugsybit a neighbor and caused her death.

Siwon apologized following the scandal and did not participate in promotions for his To touch album.

The most recent scandal on this list, AB6IXBoss of youngmin left the band after his drunk driving incident on May 31, 2020.

This delayed the band’s comeback with “The Answer” until late June, and the members re-recorded the album. Youngmin issued an apology to everyone involved.

I am deeply embarrassed that the members who trained hard for this comeback, as well as the staff who worked hard, were harmed by my stupid and irresponsible mistake…

4. MONSTA X – “Follow”

MONSTA X was in the middle of the “Follow” promos when wonho he was involved in marijuana charges. He left the group soon after and its members continued their performances despite the scandal.
