Chelsea fan banned for life after racist gestures towards Son Heung Min

Son Heung Min has recently been the target of racist acts and sanctions have been applied.

A true star in his country and one of the most famous football players in the world, Son Heung Min is the captain of the South Korean national team, while he plays in England for the Tottenham club.

Recently, the player was then the target of racist gestures from an opposing supporter during the match between Tottenham and Chelsea.

Following the images that were released, Chelsea strongly condemned the behavior of the supporter, and the club had issued a press release to denounce this behavior.

In this press release, one could read:

“Club Statement Regarding Racist Abuse.

Chelsea Football Club finds any form of discriminatory behavior aberrant. This sort of thing has no place in Chelsea or any of our communities.

Chelsea FC have always been very clear about their zero tolerance of discriminatory behaviour, yet there are idiots like this who attach themselves to the club claiming to be ‘fans’, which puts the club to shame. Chelsea, our coaches, our players, our staff, and our true supporters.

We will investigate this incident, and if we can identify him, the individual will face sanctions from the club.”

A few days later, the club then announced that it had identified the man in question and taken disciplinary action against him.

The London club said:

“Following our statement this week regarding the racist abuse during the game against Tottenham last Sunday, Chelsea FC confirms that they have identified and banned the person concerned indefinitely.”
