Kakao will launch a survival to create a virtual girlgroup with real idols

Kakao Entertainment will launch a rather special survival.

On August 19, Kakao announced the establishment of a new show called “Virtual Idol Project 30 (VIP 30)”.

KakaoTV’s original program, survival will be in the hands of Joo Wook Hyung, producer of ‘Queendom’ and ‘Road to Kingdom’, and Park Jin Kyung, producer of ‘My Little Television’.

In this survival, 30 girlgroup members will compete to start in a virtual world.

The participants will therefore hide their names, faces, voices and identities to compete as virtual characters.

The winners who will be part of the final lineup will debut from a virtual girlgroup and will release songs as well.

Among the 30 candidates who will participate in the show will be idols from popular girl groups, former idols who have chosen a new path, as well as idols who are not succeeding in their careers and want to give themselves a second chance.

The facial expressions and movements of the idols will be captured and broadcast live through the motion capture system, which will allow participants to actually perform, although we will see virtual characters giving the performances in question.

The show’s launch date has yet to be revealed.
