Starship and External Company Clarify IVE’s Non-Participation in Kyungpook University Festival

The story of the Kyungpook University festival continues.

Recently, the university had announced that IVE would participate in its festival, before declaring the cancellation of the appearance of the group at two days of the festival which takes place today October 6th.

For its part, Starship Entertainment had declared that it had never negotiated the appearance of IVE at the festival in question.

On October 5, Kyungpook University responded by explaining that it had negotiated with an external company supposed to manage IVE appearances. The university also says that it paid this company to book IVE’s appearance on October 6th.

However, Starship released a new statement the same day to explain that the company that allegedly took the university’s money is not affiliated with Starship Entertainment.

In a statement, the agency said:

“Hello, this is Starship Entertainment.

We make a statement regarding the Kyungpook National University October 6 Festival and the Keimyung University Festival.

The booking of our artists for events and festivals is managed by a separate agency, and we inform you that the booking agency ‘Starship’ mentioned in the university press release does not exist.

At the beginning of September, we received a request for IVE to appear at the festivals of both universities, but as it would have been difficult for IVE to appear due to their other planned activities, we did not give a confirmation.

As soon as we saw the announcement of the lineup that included IVE, we immediately contacted the third-party agency and asked that the ad be removed, but nothing was done. Even after, there were never any concrete discussions about a contract, and we never received a booking fee.

Also, since it was not a confirmed appearance, it was not released on the official IVE schedule.

We apologize to the students of the universities for the fact that this unfortunate situation has arisen due to the negligent work of the third party agency.”

The third agency, the Mersenne agency, for its part declared:

“Hello, this is the Mersenne agency, which was in charge of booking IVE for the Kyungpook University festival this year.

First of all, we sincerely apologize for the confusion in communication due to this issue regarding the appearance of IVE, and in order to avoid any misunderstanding, we will briefly explain the process of our attempt to reserve IVE and the reason for which their appearance could not take place.

First, we received a booking request for IVE from the local agency in charge of booking artists for the Kyungpook University festival. We then made our own request to Starship Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as “Starship”), and we did not receive a definitive confirmation for the appearance of IVE.

Later, Starship told our agency that they would not be able to accept the request for IVE to appear at the festival, and we also informed the local agency that IVE would not appear.

Next, we met with the local agency and others involved to discuss potential steps we could take to organize the university’s fall festival.

Ultimately, the blame for this incident lies with our agency, who are at fault for not being able to let go of our wish to book IVE for the festival, and for continuing to leave the possibility open in our discussions with the local agency. . The booking fee was also not remitted to Starship, and it was returned to the local agency.

We saw that the notice of change of artists had just been announced yesterday to the students of the university. Of course, since IVE’s appearance had not been fixed, Starship ended up issuing a counter statement. We immediately realized the seriousness of the situation and our agency personnel are currently descending to Daegu.

We would like to apologize to the students, to everyone involved in the planning of the festival, and to the local agency who worked hard in the middle. Above all, we sincerely apologize to the students of the University, Starship, and IVE members, all of whom suffered damages due to a miscommunication between our agency and the local agency. We will make continuous efforts to prevent this kind of miscommunication from happening again, and we will work hard to become an even more careful and meticulous agency.

Thank you for reading this long statement to the end.”
